Successful self-marketing and launching your translation business - you need to be an entrepreneur and look at your activities like you would managing an entire company even when you are a one-person translation company.

This workshop is intended for the translators engaged in the translation process, willing to increase the productivity and enlarge the networking opportunities, but also for translators in companies, institutes, managers.

10:00 - 10:20 Introduction

10:20 - 11:15 Identify and set your goals: planning and execution (market analysis, benchmarking existing services, prospective clients and competitors)

11:15 - 11:30 Coffee break

11:30 - 12:30 Your product portfolio (4 P: product, price, place, promotion, the healthy and profitable product mix: language combinations, CAT-tools applied, additional services (eg. DTP, project management, proofreading etc.)

12:30 - 13:00 Design your value chain (planning main and supporting activities)
Market yourself (putting the marketing mix together, portals and other platforms and tools for promotion and networking)

14:30 - 15:30 Business management planning (analysis, choice and implementing of short-, middle and long-term strategies); evaluation and update; administration

Annette Hemera
Owner and Consultant at Annette Hemera Consulting. Before launching her own company Annette worked for several multilingual service providers like CSOFT, Skrivanek and Language Experts Group. Specialized in global business development, project & vendor management, cross-cultural team management and outsourcing she was involved in complex, multilingual projects, often handling multiple international accounts at the same time. Assisted in the translation and localization of several million words for the automotive, IT, construction and the life sciences industry. During her 10 years with those big MLVs she managed different business units in Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia and the USA and worked closely with clients on project management guidelines and standards for both business-oriented and highly regulated sectors in the EU.

Sanja Seljan
Associate Professor at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. Her research interests are machine translation (MT), computer-assisted translation, localization and translation memories (TM), Lexical-Functional Grammar (LFG), and computer-assisted language learning (CALL). Currently, she is the project manager of "Information Technology In Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) of Croatian And in e-Language Learning (eLL)" funded by the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sport and has participated on four international projects. She has published 50 research papers in the domain of language technologies and language processing.

Uz radionicu polaznici su dobili tiskane materijale i materijale u elektroničkom obliku. Na kraju su polaznici dobili potvrdu o pohađanju  radionice. Kava, čaj i lagani ručak bili su uključeni u cijenu radionice.
