Academic year 2013-2014

Projects’ goals and partners

The first project named Children and heritage has been realized in collaboration with the Elementary school “Davorin Trstenjak” and the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb. As part of the classrooms lectures, children were taught on heritage and folklore and made familiar with basic concepts of folklore as well as tangible and intangible heritage. Through various workshops children were presented with traditional children’s games, children’s traditions at Christmas and Croatian traditional songs and instruments. The practical parts of workshops were completed at the Ethnographic Museum where children learned about the heritage conservation. The main objective of the project was to teach the younger generation about preservation of their heritage and to encourage similar classes with teachers and mentors. The project is described in Prezi: http://prezi.com/ojcmfm7zjksl/untitled-prezi/

The second project named Reader’s club for children was conceived as a meeting point for children, students and professional librarians. The aim was to offer creative workshops within which the participants were encouraged to express themselves in writing, drawing and acting; to gather children that love books and writings and to provide them with the quality content. Those who weren’t fans of books were encouraged to socialize, play and participate in informal learning. As a result of the project, students held several workshops with the partner institution – Children’s Library “Marin Drzic”, designed a poster and promotional video material and conducted surveys about reading habits of the school children, as well as the final evaluation of the workshops.

The third project named Info-tea party aimed to provide the basic knowledge on using computers to middle-aged to elderly people who were active members of the partner organization - Croatian Stroke Prevention Association. During the workshops participants were made familiar with the following content: using Windows OS environment, basics of MS Word, fundamentals of information searcing and retrieval, learning how to use Internet to communicate (e-mailing, using Skype) and how to access entertainment content (YouTube, Facebook, Google Maps, different portals).

Pupils adopted the appropriate knowledge in their field of profession: photography, sculpting, architecture and modeling.
