About Postgraduate Doctoral Study:

Postgraduate Doctoral Study of information and communication sciences represents the highest degree in scientific research advancement in the scientific field of social sciences and the scientific branch of information and communication sciences (information systems and informatology, librarianship, archivistics and documentation, museum and heritage management, communicology, public relations, mass media, journalism, lexicography and encyclopedic sciences). The Postgraduate Doctoral Study is oriented to training for most complex research and professional jobs and research based career in academic sector, industry, public sector and private sector.

The duration of the Postgraduate Doctoral Study program is three academic years. During the first four semesters student enrolls four mandatory courses, works on four elective research topics and collaborates with the mentor on scientific projects and scientific papers. During the last two semesters, focus is on the student’s independent research and work on his / her PhD thesis.

The Postgraduate Doctoral Study program is structured around four basic modules: 1) scientific theories, 2) research methodology, 3) research topics, and 4) transferrable skills, which ensures dynamics in studying and integral approach to the applicant’s career development.

The field of information and communication sciences carries a strong interdisciplinary potential as the main determinant of the Postgraduate Doctoral Study program in information and communication sciences. The content of the Postgraduate Doctoral Study is oriented towards research of interactions between individuals, data/information/media content, research of interactions between digital technologies and society and towards conceptualization and development of modern information and media systems which support such interactions. Such research contributes to development of capacity of an individual, organizations (educational organizations, heritage and public sector organizations, and economy as a whole) and society for efficient and meaningful management, use and communication of data, information and media content.
