She is the Head of the Chair for the Knowledge Organization at the Department of Information and Communication Sciences.

Since 2021, she is the President of the Scientific Field Committee for Information and Communication Sciences.

Her research expertise includes service-learning, natural language processing, instructional design and computer-assisted learning.

Service learning (community-based learning)

  • Qualifications: George Washington University, School of Business. Completed the Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning (2006).
  • Mentored and administrated over 70 service learning projects (list of projects available at: http://www.ffzg.unizg.hr/infoz/web/index.php/en/service-learning-projects) with the local community from 2006 to 2017
  • She was the first to introduce a new teaching method in Croatia (at University of Zagreb) – service learning (Croatian translation: “društveno korisno učenje"), which was added as a regulation of the Croatian National Youth program 2009-2013, approved by the Croatian Government . The program emphasizes the importance of introducing this method in academic curricula and programs of secondary schools in order to increase the involvement of young people in the community and education for the civil society. The results of implementation, community evaluation and student evaluation of this method at University of Zagreb placed this innovative teaching method to the agenda of the Croatian Operational Programme Efficient Human Resources 2014-2020, where service learning was identified as the key method for connecting HEIs and local communities, as well as a key driver in finding the first job after graduation.
